Key economic challenges impacting the nation were discussed at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, which was led by Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Unexpectedly, Ibok-Ete Ibas, the sole administrator of Rivers State, attended the conference.
Along with a number of other governors, including Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Bassey Otu of Cross River, the meeting was also attended by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Various state deputy governors participated in the discussions as well.
The NEC, which is constitutionally chaired by the vice president, is a strategic forum where federal and state leaders collaborate to analyze and suggest solutions for the country’s most urgent economic problems.
