The Kano State Government, during its 33rd State Executive Council meeting led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, approved over ₦9.8 billion for road, flood control, and renovation projects. Information Commissioner Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, briefing journalists, stated these projects aim to improve infrastructure and living conditions. Approved projects include:
Installation of solar streetlights at Kwankwasiyya City: ₦339,644,836.05.
Construction of hydraulic structures on Kwanar Durba–Fammar–Konau–Kure Road (Phase II), Kibiya LGA: ₦207,174,230.95.
Renovation and construction at Audu Bako Secretariat (Phase II): ₦277,452,289.48.
General renovation at the State Ministry of Works: ₦393,334,675.71.
Construction of a dwarf fence and gate near Gidan Fiat, Naibawa: ₦219,951,530.82.
Construction of the Dambatta–Gwarabjawa Road, Dambatta LGA: ₦2,633,028,973.31.
Installation of road studs on selected Kano Metropolis roads: ₦810,824,310.98.
Flood control works at Baban Gwari Roundabout, Katsina Road: ₦388,517,336.52.
Maintenance works on Karaye–Rogo Road (Damagari Phase II): ₦185,430,198.66.
Supply and installation of 4-way intersection traffic lights: ₦2,471,436,590.12.
Supply and installation of all-in-one solar streetlights at Ado Bayero Square and surrounding areas: ₦135,324,750.00.
Waiya additionally reported that the total approvals exceeded ₦19 billion, covering sectors including Works, Education, Health, Water Resources, and Renewable Energy. He concluded that the government is focused on transparency, accountability, and improving Kano residents’ quality of life.
