Kebbi government denies viral video claiming hidden airport for cocaine smuggling

The Kebbi State Government has categorically dismissed a viral video claiming that a secret airport used for cocaine smuggling was discovered in the Argungu forest.

Speaking in Birnin Kebbi, Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, called the video “malicious, fabricated, and misleading,” asserting it was designed purely to tarnish the state’s reputation.

Sarki clarified that the only legitimate airport in the state is the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi, and he assured the public that claims of illegal operations, drug trafficking, or a clandestine airport in Argungu are unsupported by any official reports from Customs, NDLEA, or other security agencies. All names and details in the video, he added, were fictitious—meaning someone has a wild imagination and an editing tool.

The state government urged the public to disregard the misinformation and reassured citizens that the administration remains committed to law and order.
