The manager of Barcelona, Hansi Flick, praised Lamine Yamal’s mature performance in their 4-3 victory against Real Madrid on Sunday.
The 17-year-old delivered another excellent performance, putting the Catalans on the brink of winning the LaLiga title.
Yamal netted Barça’s second goal with a superb shot from just inside the box that went into the corner, helping them recover from two early goals by Kylian Mbappé and taking a 4-2 lead at halftime.
Mbappé completed his hat-trick in the second half, but Barcelona held on at the Olympic Stadium to move seven points clear of their Clásico rivals with just three games to play.
“He’s not a kid,” Flick said at a news conference when asked about Yamal taking on so much responsibility at such a young age.
“He’s doing good. He has the confidence, the self-confidence, the belief in what he can do. Also, he’s very clever.
“He brought us back [into the match] today with his goal, a very important goal. This, at 17 years old, it’s really high quality. This is what we want from him.”
