Land Use defaulters have 30 days to pay a N5 million penalty, according to Wike.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has issued a 30-day ultimatum to those who violated the Land Use Policy within the capital city.

Wike ordered defaulters to pay a N5 million penalty fee for violating the policy, adding that the ultimatum begins on September 10, 2025.

In a public notice, the minister also identified the streets where landowners had defaulted.

The notice says: “This is to notify the general public, in particular allottees/title holders of properties, that a reviewed Land Use/Purpose Clause of properties on the underlisted streets/locations of the Federal Capital City (FCC) has been approved by the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON:

1. Maitama District’s Gana Street
2. Maitama District’s Usuma Street
3. Asokoro District’s Yakubu Gowon Crescent
4. The Wuse II District’s Aminu Kano Crescent
5. Wuse II District’s Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent
6. Garki II District’s Ladoke Akintola Boulevard
7. Garki II District, Gimbiya Street
8. Garki II District, Onitsha Street
9. Garki I District, Ogbomosho Street
10. Garki I District’s Lafia Close

11. Garki I District, Yola Street
12. Garki I District’s Abriba Close
13. Garki I District’s Danbatta Street
14. Garki I District, Ringim Close
15. Garki I District, Ilorin Street.

“All affected allottees/holders of properties who violated the terms and conditions of grant of the Right of Occupancy by converting the land use of their properties on the streets/locations mentioned above without approval are hereby given thirty (30) days from Wednesday, September 10, 2025, to pay a PENALTY/VIOLATION FEE of five million naira (₦5,000,000.00).” In order to obtain their individual letters of conveyance of approval, the minister instructed all allottees and title holders to come to the FCTA Department of Land Administration with the original copies of their documentation.
