Lawmakers in Kano call for immediate action to address Shanono LGA’s insecurity.

The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to take immediate and decisive action to combat the worsening insecurity in the Bagwai and Shanono Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The resolution was prompted by an emergency motion presented by Dr. Ali Lawan Kiyawa (representing the affected areas) and Garba Ya’u Gwarmai. Dr. Kiyawa expressed deep concern over the escalating rates of killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling in the LGAs. He suggested the proximity of the areas to the restive Katsina State may be a contributing factor to the security spillover.

In response, the House urged the state government to deploy more security personnel and provide additional funding to the affected local governments to enable them to effectively tackle the security crisis. In short, the Assembly is asking the state to stop the bandits and bring out the checkbook.
