Man City Make Fourth Summer Signing As Reijnders Joins From Milan.

Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan has officially joined Manchester City on a five-year deal with an initial payment of £46.5 million.

The Cityzens posted a statement on their website confirming the deal today.

“We are happy to announce that Tijjani Reijnders has joined Manchester City on a five-year contract”.

After spending the previous two seasons at AC Milan, the 26-year-old Netherlands international is joining the team.

“Serie A’s Best Midfielder in 2024–2025, Reijnders is a dynamic yet elegant player who can play both offensively and defensively.”

With the addition of Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, and Rayan Ait-Nouri, the Netherlands international is Pep Guardiola’s fourth summer acquisition.

The 26-year-old might make his debut on June 18 against Wydad FC after signing in time to qualify for this month’s Club World Cup in America.

Due to the high cost of the transaction, City chose not to pursue a deal for Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen.

Rather than paying the rumored 150 million euros (£127 million) asking price for Germany international Wirtz, they have instead paid about £108 million for Reijnders, Cherki, Bettinelli, and Ait-Nouri.

Despite having 22 caps for the Netherlands, the midfielder was benched during Tuesday night’s crushing 8-0 victory over Malta.

He was crowned Serie A’s midfielder of the season after scoring 15 goals in 54 games in all competitions for Milan last season.

Reijnders will bolster Guardiola’s center of the field as they attempt to improve on their third-place Premier League performance from the previous campaign, while Kevin de Bruyne is leaving the team.
