The Premier League has imposed a fine exceeding £1 million on Manchester City due to delayed starts in nine matches from the previous season.
On Thursday, officials from the Premier League announced that Pep Guardiola’s team had violated regulations concerning kick-off and restart times from October to February.
The longest delay, lasting two minutes and 24 seconds, occurred before the Manchester derby resumed at Old Trafford in December.
According to the Premier League, City acknowledged the breaches and expressed regret for the incidents.
The total amount of the fines is £1.08 million.
According to a statement from the Premier League, “Rules regarding kick-offs and restarts assist in guaranteeing that the competition is organised at the highest professional standard possible, offering certainty to fans and participating clubs.”
