Marketers disrupt Dangote’s strategy for fuel distribution

The announcement from Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Limited about starting direct fuel distribution to marketers and filling stations across the country is causing unease in the oil and gas sector, with some marketers concerned that this move could disrupt the supply value chain.

Dangote had proclaimed the nationwide distribution of premium motor spirit (PMS) and diesel to marketers, petrol vendors, manufacturers, telecommunications, and aviation companies.

In a statement released on Sunday, the company announced that the initiative aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s fuel distribution landscape. It stated that the initiative would commence on August 15, 2025, and that it has invested in acquiring 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to ensure a smooth launch of the scheme.
