As more members of opposition parties, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC), change their allegiance, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chapter in Taraba State has continued to gain political ground.
According to the most recent information reported by BASEMEDIA, Yusuf Yuuf, the APC Ward Chairman of Bilga Ward in the Ibi Local Government Council, has formally resigned from his position and defected to the ADC.
Yuuf said in his resignation letter, which was submitted on Monday, that he personally and ideologically disagreed with the APC’s current direction and the demands of his supporters.
I have been a devoted ward chairman and was one of the original members of the All Progressives Congress.
But I’ve accepted a challenging reality: there’s a growing gap between my beliefs, the realities I see, and the real needs of the people I represent,” he said.
Yuuf praised the APC for the platform it gave him and thanked the supporters who supported him during his tenure in the party, stating that his decision was the result of “deep thought and careful reflection.”
The APC Zonal Chairman for Taraba South has received a copy of his resignation letter, which our reporter was able to obtain with reliability.
In Taraba State, Yuuf’s departure contributes to an increasing number of APC defections to the ADC. His departure occurs only a few weeks after Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi, a former member of the House of Representatives for the Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency, switched from the APC to the ADC.
The APC’s influence in Southern Taraba and the state as a whole may be further weakened in the run-up to future elections, according to political analysts who spoke with BASEMEDIA NEWS.
