The transfer of N872 million, the state’s counterpart money to its primary healthcare sector, has been approved by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
This was revealed by Bala on Tuesday during the state task force on primary healthcare meeting and award presentation, which took place in the banquet hall of the government house in Bauchi.
As part of the state government’s unwavering commitment to increasing access to high-quality healthcare services, enhancing health infrastructure, and supporting frontline workers to ensure citizens regardless of location or status receive the necessary healthcare services, the governor, represented by his deputy Auwal Jatau, stated that N261,708,491.00m has currently been released to the Bauchi PHC Board.He clarified, saying, “I would like to sincerely thank all of the healthcare professionals, Local Government health teams, facility managers, and community volunteers who have dedicated their lives to making sure that healthcare delivery in our state keeps improving. The foundation of our advancement in primary healthcare is your commitment.
“Today’s awards are a token of our immense appreciation to all the recipients. As a government, we will continue to bring laudable programs and investments that will improve the health and well-being of our citizens in both rural and urban areas with emphasis on women and children.”
Jatau reassured that the administration of the governor will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that necessary funding is provided in an effort to achieve Universal Health Coverage in the state.
He therefore appreciated development partners for their technical support, financial contributions, and collaborative efforts which have significantly strengthened the state’s healthcare system and emphasized the need for renewed commitment towards building a healthier Bauchi State.
On his part, the co-chair of the State Task Force Committee on Primary Healthcare and Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyaminu, expressed appreciation for the milestones achieved in the implementation of health programmes in the state.
