NEWS FLASH: Speaker of the House of Representatives appoints 21-member committee to lead Rivers Assembly

In lieu of the suspended Rivers State House of Assembly, an ad hoc committee is presently being established by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas to enact laws.

Members designated from the six geopolitical zones are attending the occasion at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Speaking to the 21-member committee, Speaker Abbas emphasized that the panel’s purpose is nonpartisan and calls for legislation to guarantee the oil-rich state’s prosperity, peace, and good governance.

“Your job is to supervise Rivers State after Mr. President declared an emergency,” he stated. You can’t be biased or partisan.

The House Leader, who also serves as the Committee’s Chairman, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, and the Deputy Chairman, Ali Isah (PDP, Gombe), are in attendance.

Shehu Rijau, Sada Soli (North West), Iduma Igariwey (South East), Aliyu Muktar (North East), and Idris Wase (North Central) are the others.

Isa Anka, Patrick Umoh, Wole Oke, and Akara hi Amadi are a few more.

James Faleke, the South West’s representative, was inevitably not present.
