During an induction program on Monday, June 2, 2025, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, or FIRS, publicly welcomed recently hired employees into the Service.
The Chairman emphasized in his keynote speech how important the new hires are to promoting Nigeria’s economic resiliency and budgetary stability.
The Chairman stated, “This is not just the beginning of your job, but the beginning of a profound journey — one in which your skills and dedication will shape the future of Nigeria’s financial architecture.”
Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, Technical Assistant to the Executive Chairman of the FIRS, issued a press statement in which the Service reaffirmed its commitment to revolutionizing tax administration by utilizing a three-pronged approach: People, Processes, and Technology.
According to the statement, the operational foundation for raising institutional relevance, boosting output, and attaining national effect is this strategic framework.
“Our greatest advantage is our people. Your skill, creativity, and honesty are essential to the long-term viability of all our systems,” the Chairman confirmed.
He emphasized the Service’s dedication to lifelong learning and professional growth, pointing out that empowering employees is essential to building public confidence and improving revenue performance.
He added that the FIRS is implementing state-of-the-art technology, including as artificial intelligence and data analytics, to enhance service delivery and compliance while also streamlining internal procedures for increased accountability and transparency.
“Technology is a catalyst that improves our ability to deliver results with speed and precision, not a replacement for competence,” he stated.
The Chairman reminded the new hires that without qualified staff, tools and processes are useless, quoting a Yoruba saying.
“All tools and systems remain dormant without your innovation, commitment, and ownership,” he stated.
He urged the entrants to maintain the highest levels of responsibility and integrity in his closing remarks.
“Everything you do affects not just you but also the Service and, eventually, the country.”
