The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) is being sued by 15 employees of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) for suspending them and appointing a caretaker committee for the NMDPRA branch in Abuja. Under suit number NICN/ABJ/307/2025, the 15 members sued on their own behalf and, as concerned PENGASSAN members, the NMDPRA branch took the PENGASSAN leadership to the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), Abuja Judicial Division.According to Daily Trust, the legal dispute gave the NMDPRA branch of PENGASSAN’s problem a new depth, and the PENGASSAN leadership ultimately suspended more than 23 members as a result. The latest in a string of disputes between PENGASSAN and a few of its affiliates is this one. Additionally, the association is engaged in a continuous conflict with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Shell, and Chevron chapters.
