Ibok-Ete Ibas, the departing sole administrator of Rivers State, has urged the populace to prioritize the state over personal gain, saying that no political triumph is worth the lives of any Rivers citizens.
Ibas made the plea on Sunday at an interdenominational Thanksgiving service held at the capital city of Port Harcourt’s Ecumenical Centre to commemorate the state’s return to democracy following the elections for local councils.
According to BASEMEDIA, President Bola Tinubu named the Sole Administrator in March to lead the state for six months following the emergency declaration.
Ibas claims that prior to the emergency rule’s intervention, Rivers state was riven by disunity, instability, and shattered trust.
Since no political triumph or individual benefit is worth the blood of any Rivers citizen, political players must put their swords away.
Politics must never be used as a justification to undermine the very state that we are tasked with serving, he declared, adding that the advancement and prosperity of Rivers State must come before partisan or personal interests.
