Northern Nigeria was divided prior to Tinubu, but it is now even more divided under him. Mahdi Shehu

In an exclusive interview with BAEMEDIA on Monday, political analyst and public commentator Mahdi Shehu maintains that although the North has always been divided, Tinubu’s rise has exacerbated those divisions.

He claimed that although northern Nigeria was divided before Tinubu, it was even more so after him.

Shehu contends that politicians’ complacency and the silence of northern elders, who prioritize their own interests over the region’s collective interest, are contributing factors to the current division.

Our lessons have not been learned. He bemoaned the lack of a central command voice, the excessive silence and cowardice of the elders, and the politicians’ preoccupation with accumulating, praising, and kowtowing.

Additionally, he attacked the electorate, saying that many of them were using politics as a means of survival.

Shehu described how a culture that was once based on brotherhood and solidarity has been replaced by envy, greed, and unhealthy competition, saying that both voters and non-voters are being conned out of N500 and cooked rice.
