The recent heinous murders in Plateau State’s Bassa Local Government Area have been harshly denounced by the Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern States as well as Abuja.
Northern CAN, led by Rev. Yakubu Pam, issued a statement in Kaduna on Tuesday expressing profound sorrow and indignation over the senseless and savage atrocities that have taken the lives of peaceful and innocent individuals.
“The mindless and savage attacks that have taken the lives of innocent and peaceful persons have deeply grieved and infuriated us.
In addition to violating human dignity and the sanctity of life, these frequent acts of violence pose a direct threat to the peace and unity of our state and the entire country, Pam stated.
Northern CAN urged security forces to take prompt, resolute action in order to capture the offenders and prosecute them.
“We urge security forces to take prompt, firm action to capture the offenders and prosecute them. Additionally, we call on all levels of government to act proactively to safeguard populations at risk and stPam emphasized that in order to break the cycle of violence that has afflicted Plateau State for far too long, all parties involved—traditional rulers, religious leaders, security personnel, and community-based organizations—must have a common goal and cooperate.

According to him, Northern CAN is standing with the bereaved families and the whole Bassa LGA community during this difficult time.
