The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Oyo State has organized a nonviolent demonstration in response to what it claims is the victimization of one of its lawmakers, Ibraheem Shittu.
The demonstration began early on Monday at the APC secretariat in Ibadan’s Oke Ado neighborhood.
According to our correspondent, Alhaji Olayide Abas, the party’s chairman, and other party members attended the rally. According to BASEMEDIA, Shittu, who represents Saki West state, expressed concern a few days ago after the House of Assembly authorized a N300 billion loan for Engineer Seyi Makinde, the state governor. In 2023, Shittu was elected on the APC’s platform.
Because of the alarm he raised, the lawmaker has been receiving threat messages, according to the APC.
The party stated that it planned the rally to make sure the lawmaker would not be harmed.
Speaking to reporters, Oyo APC chairman Alhaji Olayide Abas stated that the protest was planned to honor the lawmaker and guarantee his safety.
He went on to say that the party planned the rally to demonstrate its unwavering support for the lawmaker.
“We are here to show our support for taking a bold step to stand against the loan,” Abas stated. We’re with him.
“The governor should not send Oyo State to a perpetual loan collector,” we are here to advise. We’re not happy with the current situation. How has the governor handled the earlier loans?
