On Tuesday, the Oyo State Government intervened in the ongoing public disputes surrounding the Osun and Oyo states’ boundary issue.
“The government urged both sides of the divide to stop the back-and-forth blame game and allow the two governments to continue mature discussions on the resolution of the land dispute,” Dotun Oyelade, the state commissioner for information and orientation, said in a statement released in the state capital, Ibadan.
He claimed that while constant antagonistic public declarations feed the media’s nest, they are harmful and divert attention from the actions of the governors of the two states. The media thrives on flammable materials like these.
The long-running land conflict is not unsolvable, according to both governments, and traditional institutions shouldn’t stand in the way of a peaceful settlement, Oyelade stated.
Through their representatives, Governors Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke are completely collaborating with the National Boundary Commission, and they anticipate a peaceful resolution in the near future.
