Power facility vandalism has increased by more than 30%, according to TCN

Engr. Charles Iwuamadi, General Manager, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin Region, has expressed concern about the recent 30% spike in vandalism of the company’s electricity assets in the region.

He stated that one of the main causes of the nation’s ongoing system failures is vandalism of electricity facilities.

When Engr. Iwuamadi revealed this yesterday in Benin during a community awareness program in Umelu, he stated that the goals were to prevent vandalism, safeguard the national grid, and guarantee a steady supply of energy.Vandalism has surged nationwide, and if you look at it as a proportion of years, say five years ago, if it was 10%, it has lately risen to over 30%. This indicates that vandalism has been rampant in this network, which is frequently the cause of grid collapse.
