Mohammed Abba Isa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, has advocated for an amendment to the National Disability Act that would mandate a minimum employment quota of five percent for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in private sector organizations.
During a roundtable discussion on Technology and Employment Inclusion in Marginalised Contexts, Isa made the call on Thursday in Abuja.
Jobberman Nigeria, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation under the Young Nigeria Works programme, organized the event.
Participants from government, private industry, civil society, digital platforms, and development organizations convened at the roundtable to discuss methods for overcoming systemic obstacles and creating opportunities in Nigeria’s digital employment ecosystem for its most vulnerable populations—especially women in underserved communities, PWDs, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
