Residents are promised a safe Christmas and New Year by Kano police.

The Kano State Police Command has finalized a comprehensive security strategy to ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations. Following directives from Inspector-General Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori met with various operational and tactical commanders on December 22, 2025, to coordinate the deployment. The plan emphasizes intensified patrols, intelligence-led operations, and increased police visibility at worship centers and recreational sites. In a statement by spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command announced a total ban on fireworks and unauthorized horse riding, while also warning against reckless driving and car racing. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious items or individuals, and ensure that children are supervised during public outings to prevent accidents or abductions. The police emphasized that any behavior threatening public order will be met with strict legal action and provided emergency contact numbers for citizens to report security concerns throughout the festive period.
