Prudence Sekgodiso, the world indoor champion, placed second in the women’s 800-meter event in Eugene on Saturday night, delivering yet another outstanding performance on the elite Diamond League circuit.
Sekgodiso equaled her personal best time of 1:57.16 to finish as the runner-up, pushing Ethiopian Tsige Duguma, the eventual victor, all the way to the finish line.
After placing second in Rabat and third in Stockholm, it was Sekgodiso’s third podium result in the 2025 Diamond League series. Duguma won in 1:57.10 after a close battle. Halimah Nakaayi of Uganda managed to hold onto third place in 1:57.89, as African athletes dominated the podium.
