Nenadi Usman, the Labour Party’s acting national chairperson, acknowledged that the party has not been able to fulfill its opposition role against President Bola Tinubu’s policies.
According to Senator Usman, the party’s problems hindered its ability to play opposition. She claimed that before criticizing the government’s anti-people policies, her leadership is too busy keeping the house in order.
According to Naija News, Mrs. Usman revealed this on her 𝕏 handle on Friday.
“Not because we lack the will, but because we needed to first put our house in order, we have not been as vibrant as an opposition as we ought to be in speaking out against the anti-people policies of this government,” she said.
The party is being undermined both internally and abroad, according to the former senator from Kaduna South. She claims that there is a conscious effort to undermine the party.
There has been a conscious effort to undermine the Labour Party, and this is no secret. Selfish interests motivated by greed have used propaganda, internal sabotage, and divisive lies. Our momentum has been hampered by this planned disruption, but we won’t let it break us,” she said.
The former Finance Minister promised that the Labour Party will not permit suffering among Nigerians. She promised that the party would always act in the best interests of the people.
“The Labour Party was built on the ideals of justice, equity, and people-first governance. We remain committed to those values. As a party of the people, for the people, we are taking decisive steps to cleanse our ranks and reclaim our voice.
“We will not sit idly by while Nigerians suffer. We will speak, we will act, and we will ensure that the Labour Party is liberated—stronger, united, and ready to lead with purpose once again,” she added.
