According to Alan Shearer, a former striker for Newcastle United, Barcelona is the clear favorite to win the UEFA Champions League this year.
This was spoken by Shearer during an analysis on the podcast The Rest is Football.
He asserts that Hansi Flick’s team is equipped to win the tournament.
Barca has a huge 4-0 lead from last week’s first leg of the quarterfinal when they travel to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Shearer believes the La Liga team will go all the way and win the trophy because they are almost guaranteed to make it to the final four.
“I’d pick Barcelona as the favorite. They were so excellent in that victory (against Dortmund) that I still believe they are the favorites. They are my favorites.
“PSG appears robust as well. They truly did seem mediocre when I watched them in the group stage against Arsenal in September.
“Arsenal looked very at ease while really battering them.” It’s amazing how PSG went from that to their current form,” Shearer remarked.
