‘So unnecessary’ – Do2dtun criticizes Whitemoney’s tribal comments at the Headies Awards event

Well-known On-Air Personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, known as Do2dtun, has criticized reality star Whitemoney for his tribal comments during the 17th Headies Awards ceremony.

During the event at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos on Sunday, Whitemoney accepted the Afrobeats Single Of the Year award for Flavour and stated that he was on stage on behalf of the Igbos.

Some viewers found his acceptance speech problematic, accusing him of tribalism for limiting Flavour’s fanbase to the Igbo community.

Do2dtun, echoing their feelings, criticized Whitemoney for introducing tribal sentiment into the award show and emphasized that Flavour’s award was meant for all Afrobeats fans.

He posted on his X account, “’On behalf of the Igbos.’

“I apologize, that was completely uncalled for. It didn’t require that kind of storytelling. It’s a prize secured by an African; for Afrobeat and a Nigerian. #headies2025
