After losing to Italy 4-0 in their Round of 16 match in Rabat on Tuesday, Olowookere’s team was eliminated from the competition. Despite their strong game performance, the Flamingos’ subpar finishing let them down. Before Italy had complete control of the match, VAR also disallowed a Nigerian goal for offside. Olowookere claimed that leaving the competition early was excruciatingTo be honest, it hurts a lot. FIFA.com cited the coach as saying, “We entered the game with the intention of doing something exceptional, ensuring that we win and advance to the next stage.” Sadly, we held the game for forty-four minutes before the agonizing goal was scored, and the second half was a complete waste.
