Nigel Reo-Coker, a former player for West Ham United, has exposed Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s error this season in the Premier League title fight.
Maresca, who had recently taken over Chelsea’s management role, had a poor start to the 2024–25 season.
But as the season went on, the Blues started to settle into a rhythm.
The Premier League west London team had a nine-game winning streak from October 27 to December 22 of last year.
When asked if Chelsea was in the running for the Premier League title at this time, Maresca dismissed his club, stating that Chelsea could not compete with teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
The biggest error he made was attempting to claim they weren’t in the running for the title throughout their incredible run. This is true whether or not you are a manager. Since then, things have been gradually going wrong for them,” Reo-Coker said on the “Football Daily” podcast on BBC Radio 5 Live.
The reaction he is receiving from supporters is not good for Maresca, and it nearly seems like he is talking himself out of Stamford Bridge.
“When you have spent that much, have those young players, and are managing Chelsea, you have to be ambitious.”
