This year’s competition, which will be the 18th Under-20 AFCON, will bring together 13 national teams in three groups and take place from April 27 to May 18.
There are five teams in Group A and four teams in each of Groups B and C. The competition format enables the two best third-place teams and the top two teams from each group to move on to the quarterfinals.
Additionally, Egypt, the draw’s hosts and holders of three AFCON titles, was automatically assigned Group A1. Seven-time record holders Flying Eagles were ranked in B1, while defending champions Senegal were seeded in C1.
Keep in mind that because Côte d’Ivoire withdrew as the initial host nation, the draw had to be remade. Egypt and South Africa, who had previously been in Nigeria’s group, were moved to Group A in the revised draw. They will now go off against Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Zambia.
