As nine international teams in the E1 boat racing series are ready to race in Lagos from October 3–5, the city’s waterways will come to life. The competition will take place in Africa for the first time.
Team Drogba, Team Rafa, Westbrook Racing Team, Aoki Racing Team, Blue Rising Team, Team AlUla, Team Miami, Team Brady, and Team Mexico are among the nine teams scheduled to compete.
Rodi Basso, the CEO of E1 Racing, confirmed their involvement during a press meeting. He said Lagos was awarded the hosting rights since it is a coastal city with stunning water features.He emphasized the boats’ technical details, emphasizing that they are built to weigh 1,300 kg, have a maximum speed of 52 knots without emitting any pollution, and be powered entirely by electricity with 200 horsepower.
Basso went on to say that the competition also intends to improve waterway transportation in the future.
Because of all the forces at play—from energy to tourism to the need to be seen globally—we concluded that Lagos was the ideal location. I think Lagos is a great place to start because we are a global platform,” he remarked.
