According to Chief Ben Okoye, Managing Director of the Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company, the $3.5 billion project will begin construction in October of this year.
Chief Okoye clarified that President Tinubu ordered the Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas) to begin the 10,000 metric tonnes of methanol per day project last October after no agreement was reached on the gas component. The agreement was signed in January of this year.
Speaking at the government house on Tuesday while leading the company’s management on a visit to Governor Douye Diri, Okoye gave the state government his word that all the essential preparations had been made to fully execute the project.He expressed gratitude to the governor for building the Nembe-Brass road, pointing out that it will save the business up to $100,000 in logistical expenses by avoiding the need to transport supplies and machinery across the river to the project site.
