The government of Nasarawa and NBA Keffi is taking action to enforce the criminal justice law and examine correctional facilities.

In an attempt to enforce the law and defend the rights of detainees, the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Keffi branch, Ishaku I. Eggah, the Zonal Chief Magistrate of the Keffi zone, and Akuson A. Hosea, a representative of the Attorney General of Nasarawa State, have joined forces to conduct an oversight visit to detention facilities throughout the zone.
The visit, conducted on Monday, July 7, 2025, complied with the orders of Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, the Chief Judge and Chairperson of the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee, and was in accordance with Section 34 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) of Nasarawa State, 2019.

Haruna Favour, Chairman of NBA Keffi, spoke during the inspection and emphasized the significance of the project, pointing out that it strengthens cooperation between the public, the judiciary, and the private bar.

“The visit demonstrates our dedication to fostering closer ties among justice stakeholders and guaranteeing the protection of detainees’ rights,” he said.

The visit, which was also attended by the zone’s police prosecutor, was centered on evaluating the conditions of the inmates and making sure that law enforcement officials were following the ACJL’s guidelines.
