Following a public hearing on the 2026 budget proposal in the Rano Local Government Area, Haruna Gunduwawa, the Zonal Information Officer for Rano Zone, made this announcement.
According to Muhammad Tajuddeen Usman, the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, the directive was put in place to prevent repeated project and location changes after approval, as well as instances where a single project was submitted more than once.
Noting that no government can accomplish sustainable development without efficient revenue collection, the Commissioner also urged local councils to increase revenue generation to supplement federal allocations.
Engr. Tukur Muhammad Wada, the Chairman of Rano Local Government, praised the policy during the hearing and claimed it would boost public involvement in governance. Additionally, he promised locals that the council’s 2026 budget would take their opinions into consideration.
