Current manager Carlo Ancelotti has been rated the most successful coach in Real Madrid’s history by former player Luis Figo.
Figo made this declaration while endorsing the Italian after Arsenal eliminated his team from the UEFA Champions League.
Following Los Blancos’ 5-1 aggregate loss to the Gunners in the Champions League quarterfinals, Ancelotti recently came under fire.
Some questioned his future with Madrid and debated whether he should continue as manager beyond next year.
Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid will expire in the summer of 2026.
“I know this world has a short memory. It’s hard to see beyond the most recent game,” Figo told Gazzetta about the backlash Ancelotti received.
“In Madrid, it’s even more true. What I find very strange is that everyone would question Ancelotti’s ability, who is also the most successful coach in Real Madrid’s history.
I think it’s ridiculous that the only discussion on the radio and television following the Champions League game against Arsenal was about his future. You can’t win every game in football, and Real Madrid is no exception,” he remarked.
