In a series of well-coordinated operations throughout Katsina, Borno, Adamawa, and the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, the Nigerian Army has reported that its soldiers have killed 23 terrorists, freed 26 hostages, and detained 14 suspects. According to sources, on September 6, troops from the 17 Brigade began a significant offensive at Pauwa village in Katsina State’s Kankara Local Government Area, working with the Defense Special Operations Force and the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
According to reports, the operation included a heavy firefight on Pauwa Hill, aided by airstrikes and artillery.
Twelve women and eleven children who were in captivity were rescued during the encounter, and 23 terrorists were neutralized.
According to the sources, “motorbikes, spare parts, food items, and other logistics that were destroyed in situ were also recovered by troops.”
Four members of the ISWAP/JAS terrorists’ family—two women and two children—turned themselves in to the 192 Battalion in Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State after escaping Lekshe village. Initial inquiries revealed that they were being profiled.
In the Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno, troops from the 19 Brigade also detained a suspected terrorist logistics supplier who was trying to move goods from Cross Kauwa to Dawoshi village. A mobile phone, a wristwatch, and N55,000 in cash were among the recovered items.
