The Pan-African Anti-Corruption and Crime Agency (PAACA) has stated that Nigerian politicians commit nearly 90 percent of election-related crimes. To address this, PAACA has suggested measures to reduce electoral violence and fraud, aiming to promote free, fair, and peaceful elections in 2027.

The Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa (PAACA) has called on political parties, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to thoroughly review the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines ahead of the 2027 general elections. The centre highlighted that politicians are responsible for 90 percent of election-related crimes and stressed the importance of empowering citizens to resist manipulation. Known for organizing events in collaboration with the Federal Government and the MacArthur Foundation, PAACA urged stakeholders to familiarize themselves with INEC’s rules to ensure credible elections. Nwagwu emphasized that with proper information, it becomes harder for politicians to manipulate voters. INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Sokoto State, Umar Yusuf Garba, through the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Abdullahi Sale Dawa, described the event as a vital opportunity to deepen understanding of the electoral process. Similarly, the Sokoto State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Babangida Kurfi, represented by Ms. Okeke Uche Ngozi, said the town hall meeting was timely for stakeholders to review electoral reforms, build on successes, and identify areas needing improvement.
