The announcement that Lagos will host the 2027 Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) has been welcomed by Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to Daily Trust, Nigeria has been nominated as the host nation, with Lagos serving as the conference’s host city, by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), in coordination with the African Union (AU) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat.
Sanwo-Olu responded to the announcement in Algiers by saying that the selection of Lagos highlights Nigeria’s crucial role in the economic integration of Africa and the state’s standing as a significant financial and commercial center.In his own words: “We are thrilled that Lagos has been selected to host this significant fair in 2027. However, we are not shocked because it demonstrates our tenacity, fortitude, and dedication to the Greater Lagos adventure, as demonstrated by our T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda. Our goal is to establish Lagos as a global financial center, and this will undoubtedly help us in that endeavor.
