On Saturday, May 24, the 8th edition of the Zenith Bank Inter-School Swimming Competition will be held at Ikoyi Club 1938.
The organisers of the grassroots competition anticipate that around 20 schools will gather at the swimming pool section of the Ikoyi club for the annual event, where primary and secondary schools will vie for honours on a day filled with engaging activities.
Trish Okereke, the vice chairman of the swimming section, stated that all arrangements have been made to guarantee a smooth event. Competitions will include freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, individual medley, relays, and team events. Adaora Umeoji, Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, also expressed the organization’s commitment to developing sports at the school and grassroots levels. “We are deliberate with our sports events for the youth to engage them early on; this swimming event is one such occasion. We expect the kids to have fun and promise improvements each year,” said Umeoji. In the 2024 edition of the Zenith Bank-Ikoyi Club Inter School Swimming competition, Grange School won in both Primary and Secondary school events.
