President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, after earning their seventh title at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket.
Just like the Super Falcons, the President also committed to receive the team and trophy in AbujaThe Coach Rena Makama-led female squad won the Afrobasket championships after defeating the Malian side, 78-64, in a thrilling contest Sunday night at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy in a statement complimented the team’s desire to deliver honor to the country despite losing the first quarter of the competition.
“Your superb performance throughout the competition has made Nigeria proud. Like the Super Falcons, you have inspired our young females. You epitomized the tenacious Nigerian spirit, the force of solidarity, and the rewards of hard labor.
“By winning the AfroBasket trophy for a record fifth consecutive time, you have written your names in history and shown the world what to expect out of Africa,” the President stated.
