Senator Barau Jibrin, the Senate’s deputy president, has praised President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Army for drastically lowering abduction and insurgent activity, asserting that the president has established a solid basis for the country’s development.
Despite divergent concerns from Senator Orji Kalu and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum regarding the rise in violence in the South-East and North-East, Barau emphasized Tinubu’s accomplishments in his first two years in office in a statement released Tuesday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.
For example, in the North West geopolitical zone, hundreds of terrorists have been eliminated, Barau stated. Indeed, there are isolated incidents of kidnapping and assault, but they pale in comparison to the arrival of this government. The frequent kidnappings that occurred along the Abuja/Kaduna road are now history. There has been a decline in the activity of unidentified shooters terrorizing the Southeast.
Before the latest strikes in some areas of Borno State, Boko Haram was virtually exterminated in the Northeast. I have faith that our brave soldiers will take decisive action to put an end to them once and for all.”Congratulation to our brave officers and men of the Armed Forces and other sister security agencies—the people of the remaining five states in the Northeast live in peace and go about their lawful business.”
He also noted the launch of phase one of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) to transform agriculture through innovation and investment, crediting enhanced peace for enabling such initiatives.
Barau urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s efforts, stating, “President Tinubu has left no stone unturned in addressing the country’s challenges. He has been working genuinely to correct the fiscal misalignments. He has attracted foreign direct investments worth billions of dollars, paid the forex backlog and cleared the ways and means of the trillion naira he inherited from the last administration.”
Acknowledging ongoing challenges, Barau remarked, “It is not easy to ‘rebuild a shattered building,’” but assured that Tinubu is patiently working toward transformation.
He called for maximum public support for the government’s people-oriented and pro-masses initiatives to lead Nigeria to prosperity.
He concluded, “To this end, I urge all to give maximum support to the government to continue with these people-oriented and pro-masses initiatives conceived to take our country to the Eldorado.”
