Following incidents involving fallen trees and lighting, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority reported traffic interruptions in sections of Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday.
Three streetlights were out along Osborne Road, according to a statement released by LASTMA on X (previously Twitter) at 7:38 a.m., however it stated that there was “no effect on traffic presently.”
A more severe incident, however, occurred at the Bourdillon Road inward Alexandra roundabout, when a fallen tree totally blocked traffic.
At the Bourdillon inward Alexandra roundabout, a tree fell, blocking all traffic. Our officers had to redirect drivers to a different route, according to LASTMA.
Another incident with a fallen tree that partially impeded traffic flow was recorded on Alexandra Road in Parkview Estate.
Another tree fell down at Alexandra inward Parkview Estate taking 50% of the road,” the agency added.
LASTMA assured all that officers were working to clear the affected areas and that the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency had been contacted for assistance.
The agency also urged motorists to drive with caution on approach.
Efforts to remove the fallen trees and restore normal traffic conditions are ongoing.
