According to the DailyMail, Chelsea’s owners, BlueCo, are expected to lose their effort to recruit Brighton’s Julio Enciso.
Enciso came close to joining Strasbourg for the current campaign before moving to Chelsea for the following one.
The two Premier League clubs agreed to pay about £13.8 million for the 21-year-old midfield player.
But Encisco has reportedly failed a medical and the move is now in doubt.
Neither Brighton nor Chelsea have made any public comments on the speculation.
Enciso moved to Brighton from Libertad in 2022 and has made 57 appearances, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
But his time with the Seagulls has been consistently interrupted by fitness issues.
The Paraguayan suffered a torn meniscus in August 2023 and the injury ruled him out for six months. He also had knee trouble, which required surgery in May and is expected to keep him sidelined for several more weeks
