Anthony Gordon, a standout for Newcastle United, has praised Alexander Isak, a former teammate who joined Liverpool on the day of the summer transfer deadline.
Newcastle was unwilling to sell Isak this summer, so he had to fight his way out.
After going on strike and skipping Newcastle’s training, the Sweden international was forced to leave in a Premier League record deal.
Gordon claimed the 25-year-old was one of his greatest teammates and a wonderful person despite all the drama surrounding the Swede’s transfer.
The England international stated it was a pleasure to play with Isak at St. James’ Park and wished him well at Liverpool.
On Instagram, Gordon, who had 84 dressing room encounters with Isak while playing for Newcastle United and scored 10 goals together, said he wished him luck.
It has been enjoyable to play with you, regardless of the circumstances or events that have transpired. A fantastic teammate and guy, and one of the best chemistry I’ve ever had on the field. I hope the best for you, brother.
Last season, both players worked together to help Newcastle United win the Carabao Cup. It was the first trophy the team had won in seven decades.
