It has been disclosed that Wilfred Ndidi’s contract with Leicester City includes a £9 million relegation release clause.
Last summer, Ndidi signed a new contract with the Foxes for three years.
The BBC reports that the clause was triggered when Leicester City were relegated to the Sky Bet Championship two weeks ago after losing 1-0 to newly crowned champions Liverpool.
Last summer, the 28-year-old had the opportunity to exit the King Power Stadium on a free transfer but chose to stay at the club instead.
In January, Leicester City turned down an offer from Ligue 1 club Monaco for the player.
In 2017, Ndidi transferred to the Foxes from KRC Genk, a team in the Belgian Pro League.
This season, the Nigeria international has played 27 matches in total for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team.
