Transfer: Why I left Chelsea to join Arsenal – Kepa

For the first time since his transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has spoken out.

Kepa was signed by the Gunners following their activation of a £5 million release clause in his contract.

The Spaniard has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at the Emirates after spending last season on loan at Bournemouth

He is expected to bring experienced cover for his international team-mate David Raya.

Kepa said: “I’m really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming.

“The ambition that is shown in this club, when I talk with Mikel [Arteta] and Inaki [Cana, goalkeeping coach], how much they show me their desire to win… I think we are so close to winning and hopefully altogether we can achieve it.”

Kepa became the world’s costliest goalkeeper in 2018, after Chelsea paid Athletic Club around £7 million for him
