Victor Osimhen, the Galatasaray forward, entered the history books by netting a goal in his team’s 3-0 victory against Kayserispor at Rams Park on Sunday.
The Nigerian international netted a goal in the 26th minute, bringing his tally to 25 goals in 29 league matches this season and bolstering his position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot race.
As per Opta, Osimhen has become the third foreign footballer in Galatasaray’s history to net 25 goals in a Super Lig season, following Bafetimbi Gomis in 2017-18 and Mauro Icardi in 2023-24.
This season, the Super Eagles striker has scored 25 goals, making him the leading scorer in the Turkish Super Lig.
The player on loan from Napoli has scored four goals more than Krzysztof Piątek, who is in second place with 21 goals.
This season, the 26-year-old has scored 36 goals and assisted eight times in 40 matches for Galatasaray.
