Two women are detained by NCoS on suspicion of smuggling drugs into the Kano detention facility.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Kano State has apprehended two young women for allegedly attempting to smuggle illicit drugs into the Goron Dutse Medium Security Custodial Centre. The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Maryam Ali and 20-year-old Hauwa Musa, were intercepted by officers during a routine security screening on December 21, 2025.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Musbahu Lawan Kassarawa, confirmed the arrest and noted that the substances were intended for inmates within the facility. He characterized the attempt as a severe violation of correctional regulations and a criminal offense under federal law. Following the discovery, the suspects were transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and legal proceedings. Kassarawa reiterated the Service’s zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal activities and warned the public that any breach of visitation rules would result in strict legal consequences.
