WAFCON 2024: Babajide honors Diogo Jota with a goal against Tunisia

Omorinsola Babajide, a forward for the Super Falcons, responded to his celebration during the team’s 3-0 victory over Tunisia.

Babajide scored and provided an assist in Sunday’s Group B match at Casablanca’s Larbi Zaouli Stadium.

The former UD Tenerife player scored Nigeria’s second goal in the 45th minute and assisted Asisat Oshoala in the first goal in the fourth.

In five games, it was her first goal for the nine-time African champions.

The striker claimed that the goal was a sincere homage to his brother and the late Diogo Jota of Liverpool.

It was also for his brother, Diogo Jota. In particular, that was one of his greatest club celebrations. After the game, Babajide remarked, “We really call it the signature celebration.”

When Nigeria plays Botswana in their second group match, Babajide will have a difficult time maintaining her spot in the starting lineup.

After taking her place during the break, Esther Okoronkwo earned an assist and was named Woman of the Match.

Chiwendu Ihezuo, another replacement, scored against Tunisia as well.
