WAFCON 2024: The Super Falcons’ victory over Tunisia excites Plumptre

Ashleigh Plumptre has expressed her excitement following the Super Falcons’ winning start at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Justine Madugu’s side recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over the North Africans on Sunday.

The Super Falcons previously failed to record a win in their last two opening fixtures at the WAFCON finals.

In their opening match in the 2018 competition, which was hosted by Ghana, they were defeated 1-0 by South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

In Morocco 2022, they were also defeated by the same score by the Banyana Banyana.

According to Plumptre, the team benefited from finishing with a victory and a clean sheet.

“I’m ecstatic. Since it’s the tournament’s opening game, naturally, there is a lot of anxiety and anticipation. After the game, the Saudi Arabian player for Al-Ittihad told Ademola TV, “It’s a really nice way to start to come away with three goals and a clean sheet.”

The next game for the nine-time winners is scheduled for Thursday against Botswana.
