Alex Otti, the governor of Bia State, revealed that his administration had shut down fictitious bank accounts that had been kept by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. He claimed that the Treasury Single Account, or TSA, which he established, made it possible to find these accounts at the start of his administration and resulted in the removal of ghost workers from payroll. The governor, who was accompanied by Caleb Ajagba, his chief of staff, stated that the financial policy’s benefits greatly aided in the regular payment of employees and pensioners. He also mentioned that infrastructure, security, education, and health had all gotten a lot of attention.
When the Treasury Single Account was first implemented in the early days of the administration, payrolls were verified to eliminate ghost workers, and digital payment methods were adopted.
“The implication is that we moved toward better management and use of public funds for the public good by closing a number of fraudulent bank accounts that were maintained by MDAs throughout the state and could not be accounted for,” Otti stated.
He thanked the Ngwa Clan members living abroad for their contributions to Abia’s development and encouraged them to go one step further by working with his administration to support the State’s continued growth through domestic investment.
Otti told the Ngwa diaspora that Abia is now among the safest states as a result of the Abia joint security team’s crime-fighting efforts. He also introduced Operation Crush, which he claimed decreased the number of kidnappings and other violent crimes in Abia.
Emphasizing that the policy would guarantee that the young and future generations don’t lose track of their history and culture, he also mentioned that his administration has given priority to teaching Igbo language and history.
